Techtribe is a social networking place for techies. So techTribe believes in connecting rather than competing."

No security to Privacy and Identity on the net

No am not talking about hacking am not at all talking about porn sites or low grade sites. I am talking about Yahoo! and Google.

According to a report by a consortium of telecoms and finance companies, including BT, Yahoo and Lloyds TSB, 8% of internet users have been victims of online fraud. Almost double that proportion know someone who has been targeted by criminals through their computers.

In the year 2003, a Chinese pro-democratic activist, Wang Xiaoning was arrested by the police with the help of his private information that Yahoo provided the police. Wang had been using an anonymous e-mail account to participate in a Yahoo Group to disseminate his political views. He advocated open elections, a multi-party system, and separation of powers within the government. In addition, he called the Chinese government despotic.

Google was thought to be very strict and protective in regard to the identity and private details of its users until recently, when three software professionals were arrested by the Pune police with the help of Google India.co. Google traced the telephone number that was indexing the profiles of these people and supplied this information to Cyber crime officials of Pune. All these guys did was they used bad language against a king named Shivaji who used to live centuries ago. This was surely bad behavior but the question here is 'Do they deserve to get arrested?' A Warning from the Google or account removal would have been enough punishment.

Lets put aside freedom of speech and expression and concentrate on the privacy and identity threat onliners are facing. This is indeed an ethical break down on the part of these online service providers. Another example of forgotten ethics by Yahoo is the recent removal of Iran from its list of world countries in its sign up page. Where does the fault lie? Is it with the officials working in the gain companies or is it that the companies should revive and tighten their privacy policy?

Dont Cross 15!!

Never send more than 15 messages at MyBlogLog or else you will land yourself in an extremely embarrassing situation. This is the 'decent' message which you would be facing in case you cross the limit of 15- Message:* Now just slow down there, rock star! It appears you've become a bit overzealous with your messaging. Remember, you are only allowed to send 15 messages per day. No sweat though, you can start sending messages again tomorrow.

Go on, get some fresh air, enjoy the great outdoors!

To my surprise and horror I found this extremely uneasy and unconfortable message from MyBlogLog server. This does not suit a site like MyBloglog to act so irresponsibly.

Careeb

Cool colors and handy descriptions make Careeb a product worth to hang in. Careeb is in beta stage. Apart from its album's cutting edge technological features, lots of features like chats, user communities and video sharing are yet on their way. Brief descriptions of Careeb features are found all over the site which help in taking full advantage of its features to an average internet user.
What makes Careeb different and special from other social networking sites like Orkut and Facebook the privacy and security it provides to the users. You can share and 'hide' whatever you want and with whom ever you want. You can even hide one set of friends from another set and restrict unwanted users to message you or gain access to your profile. This is a class and decent social networking site.
Here is a video clip showing how to invite friends at Careeb.
I will keep checking the latest developments at Careeb and keep updating this blog time. Those who desire an account at Careeb can send a mail at admaniablog@gmail.com to get a Careeb Invitation.

Careeb

Careeb is a new extremely advanced and secure Social networking site I have ever seen. Careeb pronounced as 'Ka reeb' (Hindi करीब) is a social networking site created by an Indian young entrepreneur from Hyderabad named Naveed. Careeb is a web based platform that helps users build separate networks for friends, family and co-workers, ensuring them privacy and social security across your networks.
Careeb is an Urdu word which means 'getting close' or 'getting together'.

Special Features of Careeb:
1. Your friends are divided into groups namely Family, School friends, College friends, Grad School friends, Just Friends and Careeb friends.
2. You can 'Hide' one group from another. This means, you can hide your friends in one group from the friends in another group.
3. You can decide who can view your profile and who can not.
4. Your profile display picture can not be saved or downloaded by others which gives lot of security to the users.
5. You can fully enjoy taking complete control of your Album at Careeb. One can decide which photo others can save and which are not (save of photos in your album is disabled for others).
6. People who are not your friends can not view your message board nor they can send you nuisance messages.
7. Specialty of Careeb is that you have an option to make your pictures sharable to world wide web.

How to get a Careeb account?
Its very simple. You need to be invited form someone from within. This is to ensure reliable and genuine networking platform for its users.

Orkut Banned? Firefox banned?

Are you getting these messages?-
Orkut is banned you fool, The administrators didnt write this program guess who did?? MUHAHAHA!!
I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE... with title as USE INTERNET EXPLORER U DOPE.
If yes, its a virus named w32.USBWorm. I have searched and found out how to remove this bug.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to the processes tab
Look for svchost.exe under the image name. There will be many but look for the ones which have your username under the username
Press DEL to kill these files. It will give you a warning, Press Yes
Repeat for more svchost.exe files with your username and repeat. Do not kill svchost.exe with system, local service or network service!
Now open My Computer
In the address bar, type C:\heap41a and press enter. It is a hidden folder, and is not visible by default.
Delete all the files here
Now go to Start --> Run and type Regedit
Go to the menu Edit --> Find
Type "heap41a" here and press enter. You will get something like this "[winlogon] C:\heap41a\svchost.exe C:\heap(some number)\std.txt"
Select that and Press DEL. It will ask "Are you sure you want to delete this value?", click Yes
Now close the registry editor. Now the virus is gone. But be sure to delete the autorun.inf file and any folder whose name ends with .exe in the pen drive.
